Cross advertising. :-)

How can you resist our faces?? Sophie says. We sat/stayed for 4 different shots and Sheila forgot to turn the camera on about 3 times. Yes. we are loved and trained...and want all Labs to have this opportunity. So.please go to http://savingalabaday.blogspot.com and read the blurb.
Im the second Lab in from your right...see the guy next to me?? On my right? That' Sammy. As soon as our Mum says "break" he will run like mad and jump through the screened in pool area. Mum will roll her eyes and groan. Good thing she loves us.

New Work

It's amazng how winning an award gets you to feel better and inspires you to crawl back to the studio to work. Once there I forget that my head was aching and my back is stiff and I'm bck in my heaven.
I've actually had 9-5 jbs in my life but the pull of the paint and easel is strong and I found it's the only place I am truly at peace.
Thank you again for my award and thank you for following the life of this artist!

Why Should You Buy My Art in This Economy/Newsletter
I use Professional Gamblin oil paints occasionally buying a favorite hue from the
Grumbacher line. Using a limited palette mainly consisting of Pthalo blue, Alizarin Crimson, Burnt Sienna and White, I need to replace these every two weeks.
Adding in the cost of canvas and brushes, one truly needs to be a business.
So you ask.”Why should I buy your art work?”
In the earlier days , I painted in many
mediums, painting and drawing many subjects. Along with this, I knitted, crocheted and sewed. Good at all but as they say,
“Master of None”.
When I got my first Lab, Sophie, I decided then that my love was in painting her. Then after adding two more Labs to our lives...well..I paint what I love, paint what I know.
Working everyday be it painting, reading or photographing, I have slowed my
process to concentrate on producing the very best piece of art while keeping the spirit and style of my work that you are familiar with,
As I continue on my artistic journey you can be assured that my art will continue to grow adding to the value of your
collection.
Day 2 of The Flu
If I could put a huge sad face here I would. Tried going to the studio but standing is difficult and painting ??..my Labs could do better. :-(
Sorry Labs and Lab lovers..I'll catch back up tommorrow

It's Official...The Pool Season Has Begun!!!
It's official...the pool has been cleaned of it's pond like condition and the Labs are back swimming. At 5pm everynight they know when we grab a glass of wine, plastic container, and some tennis balls it's pool time. We get soaked, they have fun and get tired, and all is well in the world. Soon it will be warm enough for us to be in and we play polo. I always seem to get the deep end. Sigh.
This will be the image for my new artwork. It will be 11" x 14" $460.00 . 50% in your name, will be donated to a Hot Lab Rescue in Austin, Texas. If you are interested in the original before it comes up please contact me at sophie@palm-spirit.com
Forgot to say....This is our Fergus!!!

Meet Mr. Hobbs
I love working in an expressive style. Loose, fast. I believe it captures the feeling of the dog much better than a typical portrait.
Don't get me wrong, the formal dog portraits are beautiful but my goal in my artwork is to capture that fleeting moment and make my collectors smile knowingly.
If you would like a commissioned piece of your own you can contact me at sophie@palm-spirit.com

Whew!!
I've been working so hard trying to get my other blog http://savingalabaday.blogspot.com going that I haven't had much time to do anything else except commission work.
I was trying to find way to paint what I love, serve the community and sell at the same time. I have sold two pieces and a huge percentage of the proceeds go to the Lab rescue that the dog is from. I'm very excited.
So I hope when you get a chance you'll go see the new work. I'm also listing them on www.etsy.com . You can find me by typing in sophie316.
I also added a Google search engine for your convenience . Trust me, it's more for you than me..I think I may make 1/2 a penny. Woohooo.
So that's the news for today.... Interested in a commissoned piece? www.labradorretrieverart.com or send me a photo to sophie@palm-spirit.com and I'll paint it and post it on esty. You have first option to buy. An 8" x 10" starts at $240.00
Chat later, Sheila
