Labscape Chocolate Lab

I love painting Labscapes. This is Fergus beside me on the couch this morning. I keep a pencil and pad close by as I watch the Today show and have my coffee. So in the middle of Al's weather report I did this sketch and this afternoon, did the painting. The looseness, the gesture..oh and yes..the ever present tennis ball.
Thanks for looking. More tommorrow. Sheila 11" x 14" oil on stretched canvas

Quick update...Marcy couldn't use her rear legs, after testing they found it to be her Thyroid! Yesterday after being on meds, she stood for a few minutes.!!!! Thanks for the positve energy!!!

This is Marcy. She has been the model of many of my paintings and in the past days has been having problems with her legs. My friends say she has been the sweetest ,loving girl throughout her life and now going through this issue.

As you see her picture today think positive thoughts for her . I've seen miracles happen when people gather. Thanks Sheila

Cynthia and Dennis..this painting is for you.

Could this be the cause of broken tea cups?? The crazed race around the yard only to rip the screens heading for the roof?? This sweet face???

Out of some supplies today so instead of becoming frustrated painted this guy. If you have pets you would like commissioned just email me at If you have ever wondered..Sophie is my heart dog and first Lab. My inspiration for all that I am doing. She actually runs the office here "reading" letters and running off, I mean borrowing pencils and pens. Our second Lab Fergus just sleeps here, and the youngest Sammy, he removes my coffee cup from my desk and brings it to his bed. And why do my computer keys pop off?? Ugh.

It Only Took 9 Years!!!!! Sophie

I tell everyone my Lab Sophie smiles. And she does. Today was the first day I got her doing it after 9 years of trying. The key?? Don't hold the camera to your face. I started saying.."well that was silly of me" and she started smiling away. She thinks I'm the best thing around!!! She even laughs at my crummy jokes.
She'll smile at the vets because she knows everyone, some people the worse day imaginable she will smile and I will roll with laughter so needless to say, there are no bad days here.
What a face!!!!!

I call them Labscapes. Just fast, fun paintings in oil of the Spirit of the Lab. I plan on putting them on Etsy , all sizes and prices. This one is 20" x 16" on stretched canvas.

Hogan.. A Tribute

You never know where you will make a friend. Someone emailed and asked for an item I was selling on ebay and we got into a "discussion" on whether the Patriots would beat the Packers. I am a die-hard Pats fan and Jim, a Cheesehead. So we made a wager..I would do a group painting for him of his three dogs if the Pats won and if the Packers.ha.won?? He would send me Pastees and cheese from WI.

Well...they never went to the Super Bowl that year but I painted his dogs and he sent me pastees and cheese.

This is beloved Hogan who went to the Bridge recently and needless to say he is missed terribly.

This is for you Jim and Jackie...thanks for the cheese and the friendship.

Toby 20" x 20" Finished Commission

A few months ago our youngest Lab, Sammy, ate and swallowed whole a half of a corn cob. Oh yes!!! Emergency surgery. So many people helped with the cost and in return I did paintings of their Labs, cats or whatever they wished. We will be forever greatful.

I have 3 to go I believe. They may be the lucky seems the more I'm painting the better they get. Yes I'm very pleased how this one turned out...

Thanks for later. Sheila

Silly Me.

I have been using my bike to get places lately and have "parked" it in the front hall. Yesterday while working and running about I weaved to miss the bike but my right shoulder slammed into the wall. Duh!

My Labs are hovered about me today as I moan and groan trying to find a comfy spot to sit or lay in. Sigh. I'll be back tommorrow hopefully painting. Thanks for stopping by, Sheila

A Pay It Forward Painting

This is Rudy, Star of . He's been having a tough time lately with all sorts of tests which after one day totalled over $800.00. More tests are needed and they are hoping it's not cancer. His persons will do everything they can. They foster Labs, and have their own and have helped Sammy and I during our time of need. Also please go see his cards..they are hysterical!! Capturing the spirit of the Labrador Retriever ...I Hope you enjoy!
100% of the proceeds will go to Peggy, Rudy' Mum to help with his expenses.

Something Different Today

Im sure the Lab just walked behind that tree there...! I just felt like doing something different today, sorry Labbies..tommorrow. This is Bequia Island in the Caribbean. Last time I was there they were still able to go hunting for Whales..the only Island that is allowed to do that. It had been their business for years. If you ever get the chance to go there .do! Just lovely. Great restaurants and food!!

Making changes

After traveling about doing outdoor art show with the Lab art I did started painting and selling on eBay. That's been over three years, 3-4 Lab faces a day. There are nights I am actually drawing andpainting in my sleep. I have come into conciousness with the hand actually moving.

Some of you know me from eBay and have been fantstic fans and collectors. Thank you. will still be able to find me, jusy heading to Etsy. I'm still Sophie316, still doing fun lab art. My plan is to have my quick, signature expressive style oils in different sizes from 18 x24 down to 8" square. The prices will be similar to what you got on eBay just minus the bidding.

I will have my special pieces at higher prices for you to see.

email me to find out when this will happen. I'm sure I'll have an opening special for you!!

The Success Story of Mya

I love pinting Labs in the water swimming. Even better??? I love swimming WITH Labs. Better than a Disney adventure.

Just the fuzziest puppy I have ever seen. I do need to darken around his mouth for the client but she loves it. The background was from colors on one of her walls. 16" x 16"
