Painting With Pierre

So I spent the afternoon painting with Pierre Bonnard. This is "The Open Window" I found so many variations of color in the photos of this pice I went with what felt right. I was excited because it felt we were working together, Pierre and I, similar strokes and painting pure color for accent. When I got to when I'd paint the Lab I started with my way then stopped. How would Pierre have painted the Lab. So I used his colors, his style and this is how it turned out. I'm very pleased because that would have been his Lab on location with him. I'm sure the little cat is asking if there was some way of getting the Lab to jump out the window. :-)

This piece is painted in oils on 14" x 11" x 1" stretched canvas.

The Masters Series "Everything Always Looks Better With A Lab In It." #1

A Collector and friend recently said, "Why don't you do more of the Master Series with Labs in them?" She had purchased Monet's haystacks with a Lab walking across the fields a few years ago. So I thought, hmm, that was fun to do then it would be fun now. I always think why wouldn't the Masters have Labs.? They painted Plein Air, in fields, near water, ponds and rivers..perfect for a Lab!

Todays piece is called "After the Meal" It was originally painted by the Impressionist, Pierre Bonnard, known for his incredible color and interiors. The first print of this piece was made I believe in 1927 and the name was then changed to "La Table" I'm sure the Lab is saying.."After the meal?? I think mine is just beginning!"

This painting is 8" x 8" x 1" on stretched canvas.

Art From My Husband Roger a Little P.R.

This is my husband Roger's 16" x 20" painting. It's our Chocolate boy, Fergus. Roger is self taught and has amazed me with his perseverence.

He has a day job up at the Cape Canaveral Air Base doing programming for the rocket launches they have, then comes home and paints. His work has a wonderful "retro" feel and his use of color is fantastic. He uses a different palette of color than I do and has every one of those paints out on his paint dried, mile high paint covered pallete. "ahhh, Roger? You have a whole pad there..maybe a new sheet?" No..I guess it helps him remember color theory.!!

I used to give him pointers but my lesson has been, art's beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. Also humilty. What makes my work more valuble and or important than his.

Roger shows his work on eBay as fergus126 and has been highly collectable . His prices are still reasonable. He will also offer prints of this piece.
