TWO LABS AND GARDENIA BLOSSOMS SHEILA WEDEGIS ART

SOLD
Magnolia Blooms
Oil On Copper
8" x 8" Framed

A plein air piece that I started the other day. I stayed home for a few days so Lola could re acquaint herself with the house and pack. We didn't realize we left for Thanksgiving vacation too soon after she came to us and it caused insecurities. Meaning she and Sam had a couple of tiffs. All is well.

So, Friday the 13th...I lost my glasses!! They have totally disappeared and I'm in a panic.  I were them all the time and I'm looking everywhere. A good note, in my search I found my lost thumb drive with a zillion pics on it!!  But alas, that does not help me see!!!

We have been busy bees trying to get the house organized and sell stuff. A motorhome won't take all this stuff.  I'm excited to do this! A new adventure, a new start of a new life on the road.  So keep watching because I'll be lowering prices to sell.  I have my eye on one particular vehicle.  Thought at first it would be 38' then re thought. That's one LOOONG baby. Now thinking with the slide outs we just might be fine in a 36' motorhome. With the dogs we will be outside walking them and adventuring allot.  Painting on location and having fun. Oh myyyy! :-)

$350.00 S&H included

HAPPY THANKSGIVING AND OUR TRIP TO SOUTH CAROLINA

What do you do on your way to family at Thanksgiving? I draw.  I'm learning the nuances of our new Newfoundland baby, Lola! She has different measurements than a Lab so I'm doing a series of ink drawings. Hope you like them.

So, have a wonderful holiday! Be safe and happy. I am grateful for all of you!!

I'm starting to think since our winter is starting and the light is changing, it's that "no light" ailment. Sigh. I come home from the studio and turn on every light in the house.

This weekend is the book signing. All weekend. Me and my 10 books!!! No,9. One was printed badly. But, I have a super dooper bag of large party size M&M's!!!!! It will be a great weekend!!!

OIL ON COPPER SHEILA WEDEGIS ART

" SUCH A LONG DAY"
10" x 8"
oil on copper

We stayed at the loveliest of B&B's on our trip in Scotland. Teresa would work from dawn to dusk. And at that time, dusk was about 11 PM.  This is the view outside our window.  I will be framing it with my new
"Go to" gray frame.

I finished my children's book and fell into a hole. Not a real one, just a mental one. In that hole one looses all talent, computers seem to die and it rains all day. Today, literally!!!

Anyway, slowly but surely, I am returning to my former self!  A book signing weekend...hahaha, with 9 books. One came with the cover printed incorrectly and the others I ordered won't be here til after the weekend.  That's what probably started the "hole". But onward and upward!!!

$440.00
S&H included

AND NOW PRESENTING...SHEILA WEDEGIS ART

Today my new children's (adult) book went on sale on Amazon!!!  The Dog And The Frog  So very excited!!!  A couple of "oops" but I'll correct those after the book signing this weekend!!

I had to purchase my own books because I couldn't get then until after the weekend. Hmm...something wrong with that thinking. Oh well.

I've been Mind Mapping all day trying to think how to get rid of things and then make money by doing something fun! I thought maybe a monthly magazine, stories of how the "kids" are preparing. Way too many bones.  If you like the idea give me a shout.  Filled with artwork, on the road recipes we're trying before hand, (oh did I say that?) Pictures of me trying to empty out the garage that had been my studio. UGH.

It will be about 12.00 at the most.

Anyway..today's lowered price painting up for grabs!!

"Beach Go-er"
$195.00

24" x 24"
S&H included
A steal!!! And One less painting in my storage!! Throw a white frame on this and it would look fantastic at a beach house or even in your home while it's snowing out.  I am pricing WAYYY lower than I would sell this for.

SECRETS AND PLANNINGS SHEILA WEDEGIS ART

First of all I can't tell you the secret but if you see the title of the blog maybe you'll figure out. :-)  So for starters I have a new print available on Fine Art America.

Then in the following weeks, months I will be having sales of my older and sometimes newer work. I'll post them here.  You know you can't take them along. :-)

Then...my book, The Frog And The Dog /Ozzie Learns Responsibility
is now in printing.  I am attending a book fair next weekend, yes, I know, late.  Hahaha

This week will be a mad rush to get them proofed, two mistakes, small, printed and shipped.

They will be available through me signed and then on Amazon. As soon as I get the link I'll post it.
$12.95  and..43 pages.

Just a few of the illustrations. The story is actually taken from Sammy and Ozzie's adventure around here with our tree frogs.

So, it's late and I suppose I'll shuffle off to bed. Funny how ideas come to you just when you are going to sleep.

Have a great night and see you soon!!!

LOLA UPDATES AND WHO IS THE ALPHA DOG SHEILA WEDEGIS ART

Here's the new Pack.  After a few days of Sammy growling and chasing Lola, I finally remembered how I trained Sophie. Just like her Lab Mother would have!

It's an interesting way of training since you really do act like their mum. When she bit, I would put my mouth on her muzzle and let a low growl come from me. Then I would "nip" her muzzle meaning it's all good, I love you.   I know, crazy visual , but it works.

This morning as Lola started coming across the floor, I heard Sam start the growl and I was tired. I took his collar and let a long serious growl come from me. (I'.m good) He froze and started at me as I continued. Finally he had a submissive look and I stopped.  Then came the little "kiss" . Watch your guys sometime if they have a small tiff or just take something away from the other. They will come back and do a quick muzzle to muzzle.

This morning I became the Alpha. At least to Sammy. Ozzie already knew. When Lola comes over to me I grab a handful of her back neck hair and give it a shake saying good girl. Affection and showing my dominance in a small way. Oh yes I've been re reading non stop.  But I have to say Lola's personality is lovely!!

I may have to growl at Sam when he's tired but I have to say from 7am til now, (12:44 pm) all is well in the household!!

Paintings next week!!! Oh ya..I still do that!!! hahaha!

Warmly, Sheila

WHERE HAVE I BEEN? SHEILA WEDEGIS ART

LOLA...L O L A... LOLA
Oh my gosh!!! Who is that?? Well here's the story!

For a year I have been mourning the loss of my Sophie. I'd look at Lab pups and search for her face. Nope.

I felt Soph pushing but I pushed back and would say..Not yet Soph.  So yesterday I was at my studio when an artist friend came in. She had recently lost her Newfoundland ,also named Sophie and had adopted a year old Newfie from a rescue. Finding out that she was prey driven and having two older smaller dogs she feared for their safety. Plus the paws on this girl are huge!!

Dee was taking a shower when my name popped into her head. We are convinced our girls got together and put a notion into Dee's head. Roger and I decided to meet her. Ozzie took right to her , Lola, but Sammy needed to growl and bark.  Lola stayed as we said we'd try it out. We all sat outback til midnight giving everyone room. Then we all slept. Lola in the hallway, the boys on our bed. Today, Ozzie loves Lola, Sammy only has given a small Gr. I say" Sammy NO" calmly and assertively. A few minutes ago they walked side by side out the back door.

Lola, (yes please feel free to sing) was kept in a crate for most of her first year or tied up. She is afraid of noises, sudden moves, water and the boys. This morning she and Ozzie ran around the yard. A good start!

Me? I am totally in love. As Roger said to me, "She's Sophie"  Quiet, shy, afraid. She needs you and you need her!  And so it begins. A new love story..new artwork.

Edwin Landseer, an English artist, painted this breed and so they are referred as Landseer Newfoundland dogs.

Lola is a chocolate and white! As I was just looking up an image to show you of Landseer's painting I just had quite a shock. My Mum had a print hung in a fantastic old frame hanging at our cottage on Cape Cod that I loved for years. She would always say the dog saved the little girl and I adored the picture.

Hanging now in my livingroom!!! I just got chills!!!
The painting is called "Saved"

So, soon you will hear more about our new girl, the Labs and new artwork!!! Oh the possibilities!!

Thank you Sophie!!! xoxoxo

"BO" OIL ON COPPER SHEILA WEDEGIS ART

"BO"
oil on copper
5" x 7" Framed

While we were in Scotland, this past July, I went to one of my favorite places. Puffin Croft Farm in John O Groats. They raise their animals and plant and grow their own vegggies and bake their yummy breads. All is for sale! (The cheesy bread is to die for!!)

This is Bo. I was standing at the fence patting the new baby donkey and suddenly a head appeared between the fence rails. Curious Bo!!

I left allot of copper on this one showing. In the light it just shines. Much like the day I was there.

UPDATE ON PAINTING IN PROGRESS SHEILA WEDEGIS ART

 In Progress  Oil on Copper
10" x 10"

This past weekend I traveled to Mississippi for my grandson's 13th birthday party. The only flight I could get was to Cincinnati, then to New Orleans. In our take off from Orlando, we flew out over the Gulf to turn North. I had the feeling I was flying right over Gulfport and thought about jumping out. (ok Not really)

Finally when I reached NO, my daughter in law picked me up and we drove another hour to Gulfport, Ms.  Thankfully the return trip was through Atlanta.

So today was my first day back to work at the studio. I needed to pack and ship packages that were supposed to leave last week.  It really is awful when you are planning a trip and things get behind because you're excited. sigh.

So, the painting. Great horse, but I thought, being a Labrador retriever artist it needed something else in it. A LAB!!  I started to put him in from memory and it was wipe, paint, wipe, redraw, but now I feel close.  Not sure if his legs will be out in back or one out, one back. Any suggestions??

Anyway, I'm ordering a frame for it because I know it will turn out fine. !! I know my Labs! :-)

Hope you had a great weekend. Can't believe it's Wednesday all ready. Brushes will again be flying!!!

                                                           Warmly, Sheila

OIL ON COPPER THE BEGINNING PROCESS SHEILA WEDEGIS ART

This is a 10" x 10" start of an oil painting on copper.  One of my scenes from Scotland this past July. I may add a Lab, of course, but I wanted you to see my beginning process. I worked on this this afternoon while I had my students painting away on their projects. I jump up and down to see how they are progressing then return to paint.

Thank you to all who kindly sent best wishes about my Soph. It was so very much appreciated. I really couldn't talk much today, just sad, even though I feel her Spirit with me all the time. One day I had a home massage. My face was down the "hole" and of course Sophie had to come and see what I was doing.  She came under the front of the table, looked up and started licking my face, then stopped and smiled, then licked again.

Today I had a  massage and opened my eyes and smiled. I couldn't see her but I just know she wouldn't miss an opportunity like that!!

So, again, thank you!!! (xoxox)  It meant the world!!

Warmly, Sheila

THE FIRST ANNIVERSARY 9/11 SHEILA WEDEGIS ART

My sweet Spirit Muse Sophie. To say I miss her is an understatement.  She knew my soul and the reason I paint Labs. She was the reason I laughed every day. Chasing her with a shoe or my glasses. She never hurt them, it was a game for me to come after her.  I went one way and hid then jumped out and said "boo" . She smiled and wiggled with delight.

I must be stressing about the day because last night I dream't a snake was coming after me.  I started kicking and the next thing I knew I was on the floor surrounded in glass. I kicked my self out of the bed while hitting my head on the glass table shattering it. (not my head though I have a great gash over my eye)  So today home from the studio early and cuddling with Sammy and Ozzie.  (Fergus's, our chocolate Lab's anniversary was 5 days ago.)   Too much sadness but I would not have missed them for the world. My great loves...(with 4 legs)

So back to work tomorrow. Hopefully I stay in the bed tonight, or maybe I'll line the floor with pillows. Roger said it was really loud crashing then the thud!! I guess I was the thud! hahaha.

I'm fine...warmly, Sheila

"A DAY FOR CROWING " SHEILA WEDEGIS ART

"A DAY FOR CROWING"
Oil on Copper  6.5" x 6.5 "

It was a good day!! A client picked up his portrait and ordered another! So, I painted one!! Our Sammy was excited to see a bird in the house, sort of.

I had fun doing this. Instead of putting in a background I decided to tell you about the day. It was hot.

The photo is from Daily Paint works and a challenge to make your own blacks. I do with my Labs using a mixture of blues and reds to attain different shades of blues to purples. Next time you see a black dog, really look at their fur in the sunlight. Wonderful colors are to be seen!!

$350.00
S&H included plus Framed in a wide black frame with gold inside trim.

ARTWORK FOR AMY ART BY SHEILA WEDEGIS AND OTHERS

My mind has been a little preoccupied the last week or so but next to what my daughters best friend and her family are facing ,it seems so small.

I started a blog page to help raise money for Amy Davis. She was recently diagnosed with ALS.
Lou Gehrig s Disease and no known cure.  She has two young children and hasn't even reached 40. My heart aches.

My daughter , Erin and other friends work hard up north to raise money with fund raisers so I decided to share art with you and hopefully some may be appealing and you'll just have to have it!!! I'm also hoping other artists may donate and join the fight too.  So, here's the LINK TO AMY"S BLOG

Thanks for looking in.

Working on commissions and trying to fit in fun work. Brushes are flying!!!

SUNDAY AT HOME SHEILA WEDEGIS ART

Sammy and Ozzie. An older pic since Ozzie is now as tall or taller than Sammy. This month Oz will be 2. See the position of "you oh Sammy are my teacher and mentor"? , well now Oz is a teenager and in his rebellion stage. "Mentor my eye!" he says.

Oz is Roger's dog so he listens carefully to him.  Me? It's usually "Ozzie...Ozzie come...Ozzie come...OZZZZIEEEEE"  However, if I add "DINNER" he zooms to me.  Realizing I need him to listen to me as well I'm doing the treats in my pocket and the come!

Sammy is good. He and I are working on the ok..you don't bark like a crazy man just because I have a ball in my hand thing.  He has figured out that I really don't have three breasts and that bump is a tennis ball in my shirt. Smart boy. He then sees my back til he stops, then after a good sit and wait, he can jump in the pool after the ball!   My boys!

They are happy today. I am at home. Sweeping up the "three Labs worth of dog hair", doing laundry and maybe napping with them cuddling.  Getting milk from the fridge for my third cup of coffee is exciting. The treats are right next to the carton and I just may, MAY, accidentally knock one on the floor. They are ready!!!

So that's my day. Yes I am thinking about the art work awaiting at the studio..I am so ADHD. sigh.

Have a great rest of the weekend!!! Hug your babies and give them kisses on the nosey's from us!

LABRADOR RETRIEVER OIL ON COPPER SHEILA WEDEGIS ART

"ON HIS WAY BACK"
6" x 4" oil on copper

When we were in Scotland we were lucky to watch the practice training of the top field Lab on the Scotland team. To say it was amazing what these Labs did is an understatement. After meeting the person who takes the photos I asked if I could paint them and after a short discussion decided we would do a joint book of her photos and my art. The photos Ayla takes are amazing.  What an eye she has!  You will definitely be seeing more her photography here and in my artwork.

LABRADOR RETRIEVER ART OIL ON COPPER SHEILA WEDEGIS

   "MY FAVORITE THINGS"
Oil on Copper 6" x 6" Framed

Getting back to my dogs in water series. Since I have fallen in love with copper I think it all works out just fine!  I have been asked, is it a squid or a Kong? It's a Kong.  (sitting here squirming thinking it could have been a squid..euuu)

Catching back up with work, getting over the sinus thing from flying and reading some art books about the use of color. I hope you find a difference in some of my work color wise.

Roger bought me a fantastic waffle maker and it's been so fun thinking up different recipes. And yes, we are eating them. (running around block as we speak)

Be sure and let me know how you like the color schemes I'll be using/ I love hearing from you!

Warmly, Sheila

OIL ON COPPER COWS OF SCOTLAND SHEILA WEDEGIS ART

"Midsummer Day"

Oil on Copper
13" x 17"

I so hope this shows up as bright as it is.  The day was hot for Scotland and we went to a friends Croft house. Outside the stone dyke stood this family staring back at me.  The babies were so nonchalant but Mum had her eyes right on me.  As I started to paint this I knew I wanted the copper to play an important role to show the heat. I went from adding definite fields and grasses to toning it all down. I was in a place of true simplicity. The croft house, the loch in front with the hills across rolling upward and the cows. A perfect moment.

I will be framing this in a soft gold plein air frame. And of course, shipping included.

$1,215.00

Please feel free to contact me to find out about installment plans

OIL ON COPPER "QUEEN ANNE'S LACE" SHEILA WEDEGIS ART

 Oil on Copper 6" x 9" Framed

We just returned this past Tuesday, at 3:30 am, from our trip to Scotland. Loads to share with you as soon as I get rid of the jet lag but I did manage to do this first painting of our trip.

The fields were full and I just loved every minute. They call this Hog's weed I believe but to me it's Queen Anne's Lace. My summer's at Cape Cod came back as I viewed this field!

I am framing this in a soft silver frame to enhance the painting. It's just soft and lovely.

$540.00 Framed. Shipping included.

OIL ON COPPER PORTRAITS SHEILA WEDEGIS ART

Each painting is 3.75" x 3.75" and is oil on copper.  The first painting is finished and is a gift for friends in Scotland. They live on an estate in the Highlands and have breeders of long coat Retrievers for years. This year one of their beauties went to the Bridge.

I felt leaving so much copper exposed gave it a feeling of regal-ness .

The second painting is also a gift and is still in progress.  Not too much more to go..I love the "in your face" image.

I am taking orders now for holiday gifts. 125.00. Shipping included.  They are lovely gifts. Rounded edges. So special.
